Announced Bet:
Bets announced by the players for the dealer to place

Apron:
Chipper’s working area; aka ‘salad’

Bet:     
Wager.

Bowl:  
Housing for wheel cylinder.

Capping:         
Placing chips on top of a winning bet, also applies to illegally increasing the amount of a payoff.

Cashout:         
Redemption of players chips for cash value chips or cash.

Cash Chips:
Betting units issued by the casino for play on table games with value denomination printed

Change Area/Work Area:
Area directly in front of dealer between rows 1-3 and 10-12. This area is used by the dealer as a work area for handling transactions, preparing payoffs etc.

Change Block:
Used for changing chips for colour or cash value chips.

Chip:
Betting units issued by the casino for play on table games.

Chipper:          
Person designated to pick and stack losing chips, and to keep working areas clear of obstructions.

Chipping Machine:
An electronic device into which loose gaming chips are deposited during the game and stacked into columns of twenty

Clean Hands:
Method used to show all at the table that you are not taking chips from the game or table.

Clicker:
Device used to record the amount of money deposited in the drop box

Crown:
The very top of the spindle of the wheel.

Dirty Stack:
Unsorted stack of chips in mixed denominations.

Dolly:  
Plastic marker used to denote the winning number.

Dome: 
The cover used for placing the cash value chips.

Drop Box:       
The box attached to the underside of the table into which all currency, fill and credit slips are deposited.

Float:  
Casino cash chips kept in the value chip bank.

Foreign Chips:            
Chips from other casinos.

Frets:  
The metal spacers separating the numbered slots of the wheel.

Full Stack:      
A stack of twenty chips in the same colour or same value.

High Roller:    
High stakes patron.

Inside Hand:   
The hand of the dealer nearest the wheel.

Inside Layout: 
Betting area on the table containing the numbers.

Layout:           
The area used for making bets.

Lammer:         
Buttons used to mark non-value chips at a specific denomination. 

Marker/Dolly:  
Object used to mark the winning number. 

Marker Tree:
A visible transparent object located near to the wheel showing what chips are in play, and at what value.

Non-Value Chips:        
Various coloured chips that are issued to each player upon buy in. These colours help identify to whom each bet belongs.

Number Display:         
Electronic device attached to the table which reads the winning number each spin and displays them to the players.

Outside Bets:  
Even money, columns and dozen bets.

Outside Hand: 
The hand of the dealer furthest from the wheel.

Outside Layout:          
Betting area on the table containing the even chances and 2:1 bets.

Paddle (Plunger):       
Device used to push money down the drop box.

Past Post:        
To place a bet onto a winning betting position after the ball has dropped into the winning number, thus being an illegal bet.

Picking Chips:
The act of “picking” chips (using the fingertips) from off the top of a stack or stacks.

Salad: 
Chippers working area; aka ‘apron’.

Shield:            
Transparent plastic screen surrounding the wheel.

Sleepers:        
Bets that are inadvertently forgotten or left by the players that have subsequently won.

Spindle:          
The centre piece of the wheel which secures the wheel head to the bowl.

Track:
The groove in which the ball spins.

Value Chips/Cash Chips:
Chips with a set value that can be used at any table and can be traded in at the cashier’s cage for the equivalent amount in currency.

Wheel Cover:  
A cover to protect the wheel from being tampered with, when the casino is closed.

Wiping/Penciling Chips:         
The act of sliding chips from the bottom of a stack to reduce the amount of chips in the stack to the amount of the payoff or part payoff.
